Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls is a safe and spectacular holiday destination and makes for a great combination with a safari at Chitwa Chitwa.
There are some excellent safari lodges and hotels to choose from at the Victoria Falls. From these great lodges you'll be able to visit Chobe National Park and/or the Victoria Falls National Park as well as the Victoria Falls themselves.
The Victoria Falls is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is hard to imagine the scale of the Victoria Falls, but when you arrive, you'll soon see why they got their nickname “the smoke that thunders”. Its claim to be the largest waterfall in the world is based on a width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 metres (354 ft), forming the largest sheet of falling water in the world.
Getting to the Victoria Falls can be confusing as you can enter from either the Zambian (Livingstone) or Zimbawean (Victoria Falls Town) side. Take a look at the map and you'll see that the Zambezi River which leads to the Falls forms the boundary between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Your experience will also depend on the time of year as you’ll want to see the Falls at their fullest.
