The beach destination of Mozambique borders the Kruger National Park, so it’s a popular destination with us, the Chitwa team. The Bazaruto Archipelago is renowned for its stunning beaches and crystal clear waters.
To get to Bazaruto you’ll need to go via the colourful seaside town of Vilanculos. There are direct flights to Vilanculos from South Africa and there are a number of hotels and guesthouses in the town itself. It’s worth spending a night in Vilanculos, but the islands are the real catch as they offer you a private piece of paradise.
Bazaruto and Benguerra are the two largest islands where you’ll find sandy beaches and coral reefs aplenty. The Bazaruto Archipelago was named as a National Park in 1973 so the marine reserve is well-protected and offers great opportunities for snorkelling and scuba diving.
We’ve featured a selection of the most popular southern and eastern African destinations in our Tours, but we can help you plan a holiday to any destination, with an itinerary tailored to suit your budget, interests and needs.
